The South African PRS-regulator WASPA has recently experienced quite a few issues when it comes to third party marketers that do not adhere to the WASPA Code of Conduct. This involves banners going directly to the payments pages however the banner does not contain any of the required information as set out in the Code of Conduct.
In order to prevent these issues and to ensure that the behaviour of the Affiliate Marketers change, WASPA has now implemented the 3 Strike Rule that will come into effect on the 1st of January 2017 and will be submitted to a trial period until a final decision has been made at the First Quarterly WASPA Codecom Meeting of 2017.
The 3 Strike Rule will only apply to Banners that go directly to the payment page without the banner displaying the required information. The Rule will not be applicable to the Banner-Landing Page-Payment Page Flow.
The 3 Strikes will be for one MEMBER in one calendar month and not per SERVICE. Therefore, a Member whom receives 3 strikes, will on the 4th strike be referred to a formal enquiry on the AFHU Process.
